Nearly 80 percent of the 12,500 ingredients used in cosmetic products sold in the U.S. have not been evaluated for safety by Food and Drug Administration. The FDA only prohibits or restricts 11 ingredients through regulations and, by law, is not required to approve the cosmetic product before it goes on the market. As more consumers investigate what goes into their favorite beauty products, natural beauty stores are becoming more popular. If you’re ready for a product makeover, check out these local beauty shops and our favorite finds.
