In 1964, women made up 6.5% of the construction industry—a number that increased to 10.9% in 2020.
On a national scale, women own 13% of construction firms today.
Despite the underrepresentation in the industry, women’s earnings equal 91% of the earnings of their male counterparts.
Overall 10% of women-owned startups are concentrated in construction.
The Austin Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction has awarded up to $39,000 in scholarships to young students pursuing a future career in the construction industry.
