About this Event

We are inviting you to an art fundraiser. No it is a celebration, or maybe some would call it a community gathering, a spiritual realization, a body conference, a vessel meeting of the minds. We are Birthing our ancestors and in collaboration with world renowned filmmaker and international Photographer Alexandra Dietz we are showcasing an Exhibit of womb trauma: The featured photographs are all a combination of Doula portraits who have chosen a path of vulnerability and healing through photography; by being photographed in their nude canvasses with reminders of their trauma we are telling the stories of the founder of Birthing our Ancestors: Barakah Sahaiel and 6 other doulas who have experienced trauma in their wombs (abortion, rape, miscarriage,).This Event and exhibition being showcased at our glorious sponsor Indras Awarehouse, and showcasing curating art from local Artists such as: Hira Azadi and Michael Curry and other Emotional Artists from California such as Amistad and our beautiful friends from Colombia, like Sophia. All of which having a firm dedication to the emotional, spiritual, and mental health of women with wombs and allies who love them. On July 6, this is our celebration and our chance to showcase the many ways we can heal womb trauma through art.The evening will include a silent auction from our showcased artists, a short film screening, live dj, live painting performance, live music performances, and of course Desserts and snacks GALORE. We have designed this event to showcase art from artists who value the human form and the experience of the Vessel, the woman, the womb, and all the many roles in between. We ask for everyone to bring vulnerability, but also sensitivity to the space as we celebrate everyone on the same journey as us ,but also in this dark hour of are history that fights the autonomy of a womans’ body and consensual birth. We are working on a conversation that liberates the female form and unites through conversation and understanding with the world who has not dealt with a womb for those who have not Birthed an Ancestor. We can’t wait to share this intimate night with you.Love MoonlightBirthing Our Ancestors is a community funded art therapy group hosted by local artist and Doula Barakah Sahaiel. Each month she invites the community out for a full course vegan meal and a new facet of art to share with the community to stimulate conversations surrounding the experiences of women who have had womb trauma (rape abortion miscarriage) and using art as a therapy to heal through it. Although the therapy groups are centered around the healing of women. Male identifying allies are also invited to join in the group therapy’s try new art forms and volunteer with set up and break down. For the survivor hood of these groups your fundraising contributions help give many women and men the platforms to heal and open conversations to include everyone’s perspective as we channel and learn to open our spirits and minds to healing and unlearning.
