DEADLINE: OPEN CALL FOR REUSE FASHION SHOW
August 15, 2021
FreeAustin Creative Reuse (ACR) is hosting an open call for designers and models for its first reuse fashion show. Reuse on the Runway: A Night of Fashion, Costume and Drag will be an inclusive, judgment-free environment for local creators to show off their work in six categories: fashion, cosplay, Halloween costumes, historical costumes, fantasy or other genre costumes and drag. The show will be held on Friday, October 22, 2021 outdoors at ACR’s creative reuse center in East Austin. All looks in the show will incorporate some element of reuse. No experience is necessary to participate; first time designers are encouraged to apply. There is no cost to apply or participate. The call will be open through August 15, 2021.

ACR Executive Director, Jennifer Evans, said: “Our goal is to challenge creatives to look at materials in new ways and to inspire the audience to rethink how they view fashion . . . that fashion can be both spectacular and sustainable. We look forward to celebrating a range of unique and diverse creators at our first reuse fashion show.”

About Austin Creative Reuse
Our mission is to foster conservation and reuse through creativity, education and community building. Our vision is a community that consciously consumes and chooses reuse as a first choice when evaluating the need for personal or project materials. We collect, distribute and sell reusable materials donated from industry and individuals. We educate the community about how to reduce, reuse and create in responsible and fun ways. We unite the community by hosting a range of events, activities and classes that bring people together to build awareness around conscious consumption, sustainability and art. We promote awareness of like-minded organizations to reduce overlap and increase awareness of city resources.
