The Junior League of Austin is excited to present the third annual Austin Entertains, a culinary experience celebrating Austin’s top female chefs sponsored by the Nyle Maxwell Family of Dealerships. Feb. 28, Fair Market in East Austin will host the event for a second year in a row. VIP admission will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a private tasting and the event will open to general admission at 7 p.m.
Chef Callie Speer from Holy Roller will be back again this year. Click here to see the lineup of chefs and bartenders that will be joining her. Ticket holders can also expect to see more sweet treats and drinks from Dulce Vida Tequila, Caffe del Fuego, Elevate Bartending, Fancy Fluff and Desert Door. There will be a silent auction with exciting items like VIP wristbands for the Austin City Limits Music festival and a brand-new Wine Wall raffle featuring more than 100 bottles of your favorite Texas rosés, whites and reds. Wine Wall raffle tickets will be sold for $20 and five lucky winners will get to take home their choice of as many as 20 bottles each from the Wine Wall. The event will span inside Fair Market and on the lawn, where ticket holders can play games, sip locally sourced spirits, check out the cigar-rolling tent and the Kendra Scott Pop-up Color Bar and dance the night away to performances by Love and Happiness Bandand DJ Diesel.
Proceeds from Austin Entertains will benefit the signature programs supported by The Junior League of Austin, including Coats for Kids, Kids in Cool Shoes and Food in Tummies. This year, Austin Entertains will highlight the work of FIT in a special way, giving guests a firsthand experience with the JLA mission by bringing the FIT Pantry to Fair Market for Austin Entertains. Each attendee is invited to become a FIT Star and share in packing backpacks during the event to be delivered the following week to Del Valle Independent School District elementary schools. Don’t miss your chance to become a FIT Star at Austin Entertains.
This year, the talent isn’t just serving up tasty bites for attendees at Austin Entertains. Some of them have also spent time volunteering in support of the FIT program. Erin Ashford and Bonnie Wright, both of Olamaie, jumped in with JLA members to teach students about the importance of healthy eating during a biannual pep rally at Baty Elementary School Jan. 11. Thank you to the chefs and bartenders who have joined in to change the lives of Austin children.
