There’s always something happening in Austin, and you know we’re chatting about all the latest news and gossip around town in our office. Every Friday, we’ll share the buzziest things you need to know. Everything from events to the most news-worthy local topics, we’ve got you! From our office to you, here’s The 512.

The scoop: Everyone’s favorite Ohio-based ice-cream chain is coming to Austin! Eater Austin reported that Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream will open locations on South Congress Avenue and in The Domain at the end of 2019. Amy’s Ice Creams will always be No. 1 in our hearts, but we’re counting down the days.

Adding to cart: Kelly Wynne launched its fall/winter collection this week at Fluff Meringues & More. The collection, entitled Identity, is all about embracing your personality this season. Cheers to that!

On our reading list: Austin food blogger and influencer Jane Ko launches Koko’s Guide to Austin next week. The “pocket-sized travel guidebook to eating and drinking your way through Austin” is Ko’s first book, and she’s celebrating with a launch party at Ellis.

Bon appétit: James Beard Awards semifinalist Chef Iliana de la Vega is expanding her popular Rainy Street restaurant, El Naranjo. A second location is opening mid-September on South Lamar Boulevard.

#Doingthings: Get pumped up for the University of Texas versus Louisiana State University football game this weekend with some high-energy tailgating. Ty Haney and the Outdoor Voices team is leading a Friday-night line-dancing party at OV headquarters, followed by an early morning Zumba session with the visiting College GameDay crew on UT’s campus.

Frost yourself: Jeweler Nina Berenato’s fall/winter collection, Aluna, is launching next week. The collection is “inspired by the matriarchal cosmology of the Kogi people living in isolation amongst the Sierra Nevada mountains in Colombia,” and if it’s anything like Berenato’s previous collections, it will be stunning!
