Cute Canines compete in Designer Duds and Tantalizing Talent for fame & fortune – to benefit Pet Rescue & Rehabilitation!
The Inaugural Austin Barking Beauty Pageant will be presented Sunday, October 2nd at 3:00pm at Academy of Hair Design / BeVelle Barber School, 2015 East Riverside Drive. This pet fashion, talent and rescue extravaganza will feature the cutest dogs in Greenwich and surrounding areas! Community businesses, Kennedy Art Productions is joining forces with BeVelle Barber School to present the 2022 Austin Barking Beauty Pageant to help raise the money needed by Austin Pets Alive to save and rehabilitate abused and neglected area pets, and for Africa New Life / Dream Beauty Academy mission to help rebuild the Rwandan economy after the devastating genocIde they experienced.
Founded in 2006, The Barking Beauty Pageant has helped support community projects and animal rescue groups with exciting pageant events in New York City, Philadelphia, New Jersey, Denver and the famous Hamptons, NY area. The Inaugural 2022 Austin Barking Beauty Pageant will mark their 18th pageant event overall.
The Barking Beauty Pageant is the original beauty pageant event for dogs. Patterned after human beauty pageants, the canine contestants will compete in Photogenic, Halloween wear, Glamourwear and Talent, for the chance to win a Crown, Medals, Banners, trophies and beautiful gifts from the event Sponsors, all while contributing to worthwhile causes. Spectators will also win with Door Prizes, and a Silent Auction.
Leslie Kennedy, veteran pageant winner and emcee, former star of NYCTV25’s Doggie Moms, and owner of Kennedy Art Productions, created the event. “Any dog is eligible – young, old, male or female, full breed or mixed, big or small – all are welcome,” she said, “We’ve had male and female winners, mixed breeds, even a big dog, a pittie won one year! It’s so fun to see all these cute dogs and to experience the love they share with their parents!”
Academy of Hair Design and BeVelle Barber School owner Christie Gonzales, is the Local Affiliate Director of the Austin pageant. “We were looking for a creative and fun way to give back to the community and help our Dream Beauty Academy in Rwanda while providing an exciting event for fellow pet lovers when I found the Barking Beauty Pageant! It’s a perfect fit and we’re so looking forward to what we hope will become a yearly highlight in our community,” she said.
