DEFINING WOMEN: CELEBRATING THE WOMEN OF SOUTHERN FOOD: Toni Tipton Martin, The Jemima Code
July 30 @ 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm$65
Olamaie is excited to announce the debut of their “Defining Women: Celebrating the Women of Southern Food” Tuesday night dinner series, which kicks off on June 25. Every Tuesday night through September 24, Olamaie will take inspiration from a different seminal, female-written cookbook and highlight a local farm that Olamaie works with to create a four-course menu with beverage pairings.
Olamaie, built as a celebration of five generations of Southern women, continues to be informed and influenced by Southern female chefs and their cookbooks that will be highlighted during the Tuesday night dinner series. All of the chefs and cookbooks chosen have been integral to the menu at the restaurant since conception, and were chosen because of this.
The first dinner, on June 25, will highlight this year’s winner of the James Beard Award for Outstanding Chef, Ashley Christensen, with the dinner based on her cookbook, Poole’s: Recipes and Stories from a Modern Diner. The dinner is $65 per person. In celebration of Negroni Week, the pairings for the dinner will be three Olamaie takes on the classic—the Young Americans with Cocchi Rosa vermouth, STILL Austin Rye gin, Luxardo maraschino, St. George Bruto Americano, grapefruit, and Topo Chico; the Negroni Classico made with STILL Austin Rye gin, Campari, and Cocchi di Torino sweet vermouth; and the Olamaie Boulevardier, a deep, rich, Negroni variation using STILL Austin bourbon, a single-barrel limited release bourbon that is overproof and unique to Olamaie, along with Campari and Carpano Antica.
