Engage & Heal will begin its efforts within our own Lake Travis community. The community has grown tremendously over the last 20 years. Having built the physical infrastructure from roads, housing, schools, to a hospital and parks, now we must build the systems to support the mental health of our residents. Our youth have been particularly impacted with the success of the school district academically and athletically. Thus, we are beginning our efforts with THEM. Our goal is to help provide the Lake Travis School District with “safe/care spaces” in each of our schools that provides a calming environment that looks different from a classroom, has a trained counselor that can aid a child facing a mental health issue and the tools necessary to help. We are exploring the idea of an on-campus wellness center for teachers, a monthly game night or social at senior living homes, as well as talks at libraries, churches, and community groups to grow awareness for the foundation.
