ARMADILLO CHRISTMAS BAZAAR PIVOTS FOR 2021 SEASON WITH ARMADILLO BAZAAR OUTSIDE

The Armadillo Christmas Bazaar (The Armadillo), an Austin holiday shopping icon for over 45 seasons, announces a new rendition of an Austin tradition, Armadillo Bazaar Outside is still the place for locals and visitors to buy art and artful gifts while enjoying live music.

Pivoting from an earlier announcement of an indoor festival, Armadillo Bazaar Outside will offer a three-day in-person event December 17-19. To create a safe, family friendly fine-art scene, Armadillo Bazaar Outside will take place outdoors on the grounds of the Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Road, Austin, Texas 78704.

The Armadillo Bazaar Outside continues to offer an elevated shopping experience. Known for the opportunity to personally meet and engage with local and touring artists amidst the spirited sounds of featured musicians and holiday cheer, The Armadillo will move to an open-air format for 2021. This season, attendees will experience a selection of curated artists bringing their best works to excite every art lover, collector, or first-time visitor including live local music, surrounded by the sites of the city, outdoors on the terrace.

“Through the pandemic we all hoped to return to an in-person affair this year. In June, we were confident enough to announce our return date, even committing to a larger footprint at the Palmer Events Center. However, we discovered our 10-day, indoor format became a challenge for this current climate,” said Executive Producer Bruce Willenzik. “We worked hard to find an answer for how to gather our extended Armadillo family together while bringing high quality fine art to the Austin community. After seeing how well outdoor shows were working for the artists, we further explored this option for Armadillo. The Armadillo Christmas Bazaar takes our responsibility to our artists seriously. That includes their health, and well-being as well as their prosperity. They always come first. After seeking their counsel and feedback, we decided to create Armadillo Bazaar Outdoors: a new rendition of an Austin tradition.”

The Armadillo is the holiday shopping destination where fine art is accessible: build an art collection while discovering new, local, and award-winning artists. From the affordable masterpiece to that timeless piece of art – this fine art fair is like no other, where everyone is welcome, and cheer is in abundance.

Musicians for Armadillo Bazaar Outside will include Ruthie Foster, Shinyribs, Gina Chavez, Jackie Venson, Tomar and the FCs and Carolyn Wonderland with Shelley King. TICKETS: The Armadillo Bazaar Outside runs December 17-19, 10am – 5:30pm daily, outdoor on the grounds of the Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Road, Austin, Texas 78704. Entrance gates located on the south side of Palmer on Barton Springs Road and the north side on Riverside Drive. Single day entry tickets are $10; available at the door via cashless box office, or in advance beginning October 25 at armadillobazaar.com/tickets. Free admission for children 12 and under.
