A Night of Music for Ginny

May 17, 2019 @ 8:00 pm - May 18, 2019 @ 12:00 am

A Night of Music for Ginny, a fundraiser of love, music, and good food is planned for May 17, 2019 from 8 p.m. until midnight at the Broken Spoke, 3201 S. Lamar Boulevard in Austin. The event will include a special auction of one-of-a-kind donated items. The suggested door donation will be $20 per person. Musicians are lining up to donate their performances that night as personal gifts of best wishes for the health and mobility of Ginny White-Peacock. Bands performing will include: The Derailers, Two Tons of Steel, Monte Warden and the Wagoneers, and some surprise guests.

Ginny lost her legs recently due to complications from a serious infection known as toxic shock. She had been hospitalized from October until December of 2018 at St. David’s Medical Center. During her hospitalization doctors removed most of Ginny’s fingers and both of her feet all the way up to her knees in order to save her life. Since being released from the hospital, Ginny has been recovering at home with the help of her husband, Mike Peacock, who serves as her bedside nurse 24/7. As a result of Ginny’s illness and her need for 24-hour care,
neither she nor Mike work currently. The Peacocks together with their two small boys, ages 6 and 11, have survived with donations from friends, family and anonymous benefactors. While past donations have helped the Peacocks purchase an electric wheelchair for Ginny, she needs so much more. The biggest challenge Ginny faces right now will be to purchase two prosthetic legs so that she can walk again.
