There’s always something happening in Austin, and you know we’re chatting about all the latest news and gossip around town in our office. Every Friday, we’ll share the buzziest things you need to know. Everything from events to the most newsworthy local topics, we’ve got you! From our office to you, here’s The 512.

Signing off: Nov. 19, The Texas Tribune announced Editor-in-Chief Emily Ramshaw would leave the publication Jan. 3 to pursue a new venture. In an email detailing her career pivot, Ramshaw said she’s leaving after 10 years to “build a new national nonprofit news organization aimed at giving women—all women—the facts, tools and information they need to be equal participants in democracy and civic life.” Cheers to that!

Pass the fries: P. Terry’s Burger Stand announced this week Milli Hawkins is joining the local fast-food chain as its first in-house chief financial officer. Hawkins was previously with Kendra Scott and will help P. Terry’s “prepare for expansion” in her new role. We’ll be celebrating Hawkins over a few burgers.

@realDonaldTrump: President Donald Trump briefly visited Austin Wednesday to tour Apple Inc.’s local manufacturing facility with the company’s CEO, Tim Cook. He then tweeted he “opened a major Apple manufacturing plant in Texas,” which the Austin American-Statesman and other news sites quickly pointed out was false. While Apple did break ground on a new campus this week, Trump toured a site that has been open since 2013.

That’s a wrap: This week, the Austin Film Society completed its Creative Media Center, a 20-acre production facility that will significantly expand Austin Studios and bolster the continually growing Austin film scene. Look out for more film jobs and opportunities in the industry.

’Tis the season: One of Austin’s favorite holiday traditions is back for its 10th year. Mozart’s Coffee Roasters unveiled its annual light display Thursday with a few new additions and is officially open for business. The nightly show will runs 6 to 11 p.m. until Jan. 5.
