There’s always something happening in Austin, and you know we’re chatting about all the latest news and gossip around town in our office. Every Friday, we’ll share the buzziest things you need to know. Everything from events to the most newsworthy local topics, we’ve got you! From our office to you, here’s The 512.

Ready to make nice: They might have been a long time gone, but the Dixie Chicks are officially back. After a music video cameo and a singing credit on Taylor Swift’s “Lover” generated buzz, lead singer Natalie Maines confirmed a new album is in the works and tentatively named “Gaslighter.”

Cheers!: Congratulations are in order for Austin-based, Oaxaca-sourced Susto Mezcal. The woman-owned mezcal brand recently won the double gold medal at the New York World Wine & Spirits Competition, the highest medal ever given to a festival newcomer.

HBD: One of Austin’s first foodie mainstays is celebrating 25 years this September. Central Market kicked things off in style yesterday with its first Fabulous Foodie Fete at its original Austin location and will continue to celebrate through Oct. 1 with specials, contests and events.

Boss babe: Tuesday, Kendra Scott announced she’s partnering with the University of Texas to offer students the Kendra Scott Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute. The interdisciplinary program will feature a variety of classes, speaker series, internship opportunities, a study lounge and more.

RIP: According to Culture Map, popular sandwich spot Nobel Sandwich Co. is closing this weekend after a five-year run on Burnet Road. The restaurant was featured on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and was known for its meaty sandwiches. The forthcoming airport location is still reportedly in the works.
