There’s always something happening in Austin, and you know we’re chatting about all the latest news and gossip around town in our office. This week, we’re bringing you a special edition of The 512 spotlighting a few of the many local companies supporting our community. From our home to yours, here’s The 512.

Oh baby: Today, the Austin Diaper Bank handed out 15,000 diapers, giving families in need up to 25 diapers per child. According to the nonprofit, one in three Central Texas families struggle to afford diapers on a monthly basis and with even more families struggling financially because of COVID-19, it’s offering weekly Friday diaper pick-ups. Visit austindiapers.org to give financially, donate diapers, wipes or period products, or sign up to volunteer.

The buzz: Bumble is committing to financially support 200 small businesses in 11 countries with grants of up to $5,000. To apply for a small-business grant, match with the Bumble Community Grants profile on any of its app modes: Bumble BFF, Bumble Bizz or Bumble Date.

HOPE: The HOPE Campaign launched HOPE for Health campaign this week to support the city’s creative community. The nonprofit is commissioning artists to paint messages of hope on the boarded-up windows of downtown restaurants and bars and fundraising to make ‘health wellness bags.’

Berry good: On Instagram, Blenders and Bowls announced a fundraising campaign to keep healthcare workers fed and healthy. For every $5 donated, one smoothie is donated to local hospitals with a goal of providing 1,000 free smoothies.

Sew crafty: Kendra Scott is repurposing its custom yellow bandanas into masks for hospital workers in Austin, New Orleans, New York and California. A variety of woman-owned Austin companies are also making and donating masks, including SPIbelt, fashion designer Brittany Allen and studio Fort Lonesome.
