19th Anniversary

Join us for this year's Anniversary party celebrating the kaleidoscopic and intersectional richness of our community!

Filled with personal and professional development, we are hosting panels, workshops and networking sessions to boost your relationships and career!

In our dedication to the health and safety of everyone, we have decided to move the date of our 19th Anniversary event to Friday, November 12.

As September is our anniversary month we still plan on celebrating all month long with giveaways, original content from our anniversary speakers and fun campaigns on our social channels to connect with each other and acknowledge this milestone. We hope that you’ll join us in the celebration and help build the momentum for a fabulous event in-person in November.

Thank you for your support and for helping us celebrate 19 years of amplifying women in Austin!

Getting the Love You Want: Recruiting and Retention in 2021
Finding the right candidate or job can be art and science a lot like dating, building relationships and manifestation. As we emerge from this past year's lockdown many of the dynamics, demands and expectations of our professional lives are changing and we are all trying to adjust to and define what the new normal will look like. Join us for a discussion on what companies, employees and candidates are looking for today. 45 min. Panel w/ Q&A.
Imminent Innovation: Impact of COVID-19 on Leadership and Business
The past year sped up the possibility of new working models. This next phase of work comes with many questions for leadership to consider. What are the implications for culture and inclusion in remote and hybrid models? How do companies account for pay and promotions? What new skills have we learned? What are the new standards and which systems are best? Sharon Brogdon, Vice President Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at BigCommerce; and Amber Glassman, CEO & Co-Founder at Bryan Anthonys discuss strategy, operations and the future of work. 45 min. Panel w/ Q&A.
Thinking Out Loud: Women Over 50
For women over 50, gendered ageism is having an impact on the future of our professional lives. As companies are building out their workforce, inequity and underrepresentation in top positions are a problem for all women but especially for experienced professionals looking to continue our leadership trajectory. Join veteran journalist Judy Maggio and executive coach, author, speaker, and podcast host Bonnie Marcus in this discussion about how to avoid being “aged out” and continue to develop and cultivate a rich career past 50. 45 min. Panel w/ Q&A.
AFTERNOON 2 - 3:30 p.m.
The Kaleidoscopic Woman: Intersectionality, Coalition Building and Allyship
Women in Austin are a complex and multifaceted mix of experience, origin and identity. Our communities overlap through the passion in supporting women to achieve any and all dreams but the challenges and success for each of us on that path look different. How can we leverage our collective resources and learn about each others struggles to create larger initiatives, coalitions and unified visions for the future of women in Austin? Join motivational speaker, writer, coach and podcast host Mindy Henderson; Nan Blassingame, program director for Great Promise for American Indians; Pete Inman, principal at Camino Real Financial Strategies; Priscilla A. Hale, executive director at allgo; and Terry Mitchell, founder of the Black Leaders Collective in this discussion and workshop. 1.5hr. Panel w/ activity.
Getting to Free: Gender and Authentic Self Expression
Being a woman comes with a lot of power, beauty and baggage. In this panel and workshop we discuss the structures of gender and how they have historically limited us, while exploring ways that we can reclaim expression as a path to freedom. Join Dr. Kristin Neff, associate professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin and author; Jo Hsu, assistant professor in the Department of Rhetoric and Writing at the University of Texas at Austin; and Mars Kennedy, drag performer and Miss Gay Austin 2019 winner in this discussion. 1.5hr. Presentation, Panel and Meditation.
Feeling the Burn! Burnout and Wellness in 2021
Burnout is the literal hot topic this year. Moving through personal, global and professional changes at a speed unknown we have all been feeling the burn. What are the ways we can resource ourselves and stay holistically fit in a world still uncertain? What are some of the pitfalls and challenges we are facing and how can we support each other and ourselves in staying cool and calm amidst the burn? Join Andra Liemandt, founder of the Mental Gym; Ada-Renee Johnson, Employee Relations Partner at Google; Dr. Omerine Aseh, family practitioner at Austin Regional Clinic; and Diana Anzaldua, founder of Contigo Wellness for this discussion and practice. 1.5 hr. Panel w/ activity.
