The Wizard of Oz presented by Zilker Theatre Productions

Follow the yellow brick road all summer long. Zilker Theatre Productions has selected the family-favorite Wizard of Oz for its 59th annual Zilker summer musical. Starting on July 7, this free production will run Thursdays through Sundays.

 

Austin Film Festival’s Free Screening of Shot Caller

Galaxy Highland Theatre will be hosting a free, advanced screening of the new crime thriller Shot Caller on July 11. Directed by Ric Roman Waugh, the film follows the harrowing journey of successful businessman Jacob Harlon who transforms into a ruthless prison gangster after receiving a DUI. Stick around after the screening for a Q&A with the director and producers of this highly anticipated film.

 

Texas Rollergirls Bout Day

Get your derby on and roll your way over to the Austin Sports Center on July 15 to support the Texas Rollergirls. Every year Texas Rollergirls host “Bout Day” where anyone can watch the Rollergirls in action. Visit their website for ticket information. Fun for the whole family, this high-energy sport has been an Austin fave for years.

Austin’s Food Truck festival is back. Come out for live music from Muva Erff, local brews, shopping and delicious food! Red River Cultural District’s Hot Summer Nights

The Red River Cultural District is celebrating summer with its first annual Hot Summer Nights! Covering the 600 – 900 blocks of Red River Street, the cultural district is home to some of the city’s top nightclubs and music venues like Stubb’s, Plush and Barbarella. On the agenda: Local food, arts and crafts booths and over 100 live music performances by White Denim, The Octopus Project, Israel Nash, Summer Salt and Abraham Shook.

 

Music Under the Stars

 Pack up your chairs and blankets and bring the whole family to enjoy this free concert series under the stars at at the Bullock Museum. Jazz trio Los Coast will open for Austin’s “Queen of Soul” Tameca Jones. Local food and beer will be sold as well as Tito’s Handmade Vodka signature cocktails.

 

Yoga & Mimosas in the Park
