Executive Director, The Settlement Home

The Settlement Home is a private, licensed nonprofit founded in 1916 by The Settlement Club, a group of Austin women committed to helping children in need. In the last 100 years, its programs and services have evolved to meet the needs of the Austin community. The home currently serves individuals who have experienced severe emotional trauma, abuse and neglect. Its 10-acre campus provides residential-treatment services, transitional-living services and on-campus schooling for adolescent girls, while its foster and adoption program licenses families that provide homes to boys and girls. DeShazo is inspired by the amazing resilience of the kids at The Settlement Home and is proud to lead an organization committed to changed lives for the better.
